Paradise Season 1 & 2 Review: A Messy, Addictive Sci-Fi Thriller That Earns the Binge

    KieranApril 1, 2026

Paradise Seasons 1 and 2 are a bingeable mixed bag: Season 1 starts slow, but gets very good, while Season 2 goes bigger, wilder, and more action-heavy. Messy, flawed, worth watching.

Paradise Season 1 & 2 Review: A Messy, Addictive Sci-Fi Thriller That Earns the Binge

I ended up binge-watching Paradise Seasons 1 and 2, and that probably says as much about the show as anything else. This is not a perfect series. It is not always clean, logical, or consistently paced. But it does have that important quality a lot of “better” shows lack: once it gets its hooks into you, it becomes very hard to stop watching. That matters, because Season 1 really does test your patience early. It starts out slow, and at times it is honestly kind of boring. I was close to giving up on it altogether because the setup takes too long to feel urgent, and the show spends a lot of time acting like the mystery alone is enough to carry the story. For a while, it isn’t.

But then Season 1 finds itself. Once the story starts paying off its setup, the show becomes much more compelling. The slow build starts to make more sense, the central mystery gets stronger, and the characters finally feel like they are moving inside a story instead of waiting for one to begin. That turnaround is the key reason I stuck with it and the key reason I’d still recommend it. It goes from “why am I still watching this?” to “okay, now this is actually pretty good” in a way that feels earned, even if it takes longer than it should to get there.

Season 2 is a different animal. It is much more action-packed, much more forward-moving, and a lot easier to binge. The show clearly knows that it cannot afford another slow burn in the same way, so it throws more at you — more momentum, more conflict, more big swings. The upside is that it keeps your attention much better than the early stretch of Season 1. The downside is that it also gets more far-fetched. There are definitely moments where the show stretches plausibility, or at least asks you to go along with some very big leaps. But it does it with enough energy and conviction that I mostly stayed on board. It may not always make perfect sense, but it stays entertaining, and that counts for something.

Where I’m more mixed is with where the show seems to be heading. As you noted, it has been renewed for one more season, and the central direction now looks like it is turning into a “save the world by working with or against AI” kind of story. That could work. It could also be exactly the point where the series loses the balance that made it watchable in the first place. I’m interested enough that I’ll watch Season 3, but I’m not fully sold on it yet. Season 2 did enough to keep me in the game, but I’m also wary that the show may be drifting into bigger-and-bigger sci-fi plotting instead of tightening what already works. Taken together, Seasons 1 and 2 land at a 7.7/10 for me: flawed, bingeable, uneven, but definitely worth watching if you’re willing to push through the slow start and accept that the ride gets weirder as it goes.
