Shadow and Bone is a solid fantasy series that succeeds most when it focuses on its world-building and ensemble cast. The production design is impressive, the magic system is interesting, and several characters are more compelling than the central storyline itself. While some plot developments feel familiar and the pacing occasionally drags, the series remains entertaining and immersive. It may not reach the heights of the genre’s very best, but it’s an enjoyable fantasy adventure that’s easy to get invested in.
