The Wire is one of the smartest and most important television dramas ever made. It is not always the easiest watch, and it requires patience, but the payoff is huge. The characters feel real, the world feels lived-in, and the show has an incredible ability to connect personal stories to larger social issues. Some seasons hit harder than others, but as a complete series, it is a powerful, ambitious, and deeply memorable achievement.
