Young Washington has an interesting premise and solid production values, but it never fully capitalizes on the historical significance of its subject. The performances are respectable, and several scenes effectively capture the future leader's character, yet the story feels overly conventional. It's an enjoyable historical drama, though one that misses the opportunity to become something truly memorable.
