Donnie Brasco may not have the epic scope of The Godfather or Goodfellas, but it succeeds through its characters and performances. Al Pacino is especially strong as Lefty, bringing vulnerability and humanity to a career criminal. The pacing is deliberate, but the emotional tension steadily builds, making the story increasingly compelling. It’s a well-crafted crime drama that prioritizes character over spectacle and is all the better for it.
